A Quick Introduction to the Singularity
What is it? Essentially, a technological singularity is an event that occurs when technological innovation essentially “explodes.” You can think of this point as the end of an exponential growth curve, where each new technological innovation fuels more innovations and the cycle continues. Some believe that this event will occur with the creation of an artificial intelligence that can rapidly learn and innovate at speeds unattainable by humans.
Predicting what will happen beyond the singularity is extremely difficult as innovation and advancement will be occurring at such a rapid pace. New technologies, philosophies, discoveries, and more could easily change the outlook of humanity within a matter of weeks, perhaps even days. And this is exactly why the singularity is such a fascinating event to discuss and ponder. Discussion on the details of such a complex and significant event can undoubtedly go on and on, and that is one of the reasons this blog has been created.
